Infomaniak is a Swiss-based Web and Mail Hosting company. I moved everything under their umbrella after over 10 years of being with U.S. based provider. There are 3 reasons I decided to move to European soil where I also live.
- The Privacy law is stronger and I as a part-time nude Photographer don`t fall into ridiculous to some point SESTA-FOSTA law.
- My previous hosting was way behind with their updates of cPanel. PHP. When I asked about planned updates, the answer was: “for the shared accounts we don`t have plans at the moment and it won't happen very soon”. Well…I don`t pay high fees for a dedicated server so I`m left behind? Fair enough.
- Customer Service. I loved it at the very beginning of 2007. However, as time went by, their service worsened. Sometimes I had to wait for urgent replies for about a week. This was unacceptable.
What do I do in order to choose a service or product?
Test, test, and again test…
I found Infomaniak through a search for a European hosting company. It wasn't easy as there are many in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and so on. Then, I scaled down to a particular country, Switzerland. Then Infomaniak's name popped up. I thought it had been some fake or small company with a weird name. Sorry, I thought that way.
I decided to take a closer look after all. Once I was convinced to switch, the first thing I did was to contact them with a few pre-sale questions. Remember test, test? Here was about Customer Service response time. This matters the most for me prior I buy anything. Even the best marketing campaign won`t help if CS is non-existent.
So far, so good. Quick replies via Facebook chat or Email. OK, maybe this was because of pre-sale questions, so they probably wanted to get a guy onboard and then leave it. However, follow-up questions were answered quickly and clearly again. Hmm…maybe I was too negative to think that they would leave me when I sign for their services(?) They have a 30-day money-back guarantee anyway, so why not jump on and check by myself from the inside?
Infomaniak's so-called cPanel was not there. I was lost.
Where is cPanel?! What did I suppose to do? How do I find WordPress installation? How do I set up email and other things?
Something was definitely missing here. Let`s hit Support Team again with a few questions and see how professional they are and of course timing.
INFOMANIAK has a “self-developed” Site Manager. No 3rd parties interference.
